Overview
This study estimates carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles in Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley using vehicle registration data and manufacturer-provided emission rates. The number of registered vehicles grew from 40,133 in 1990 to 330,336 in 2011, including diesel and gasoline vehicles.
The analysis estimates emissions by vehicle type and presents recommendations for improving air quality in the valley.
